Paderborn
Bolton is twinned with Paderborn in Germany and Le Mans in France. Over the past 18 years strong links have been developed with Paderborn Video Club www.padeborn-film-club.de with annual visits between the Clubs now an established feature.
Paderborn invited both Bolton and Le Mans to join their celebrations on 30th June 2007 to mark their 50th anniversary. A full program of events was in place when we arrived starting with a lively evening reception at the home of one of their members (see below). On the Saturday, we were warmly welcomed by the Mayor of Paderborn, before going to another function attended by representatives from the German equivalent of the IAC. On Sunday, a coach had been hired to take us some local beauty spots including an extensive cave system and we finished the weekend on Monday with another excursion into the local countryside before we went to the Club for a film show where we presented Paderborn with a Trophy which we hope will be used to start a new competition at the Club.
In 2008, we joined Paderborn in France at the invitation of the Le Mans Video Club. The highlight was undoubtedly a visit to the famous 24 hour race track with a conducted tour of the extensive motor museum. We hope that this will mark the start of a close relationship with the Video Clubs of both our twin towns.
The year 2009 also marks a special anniversary as it will then be 20 years since links with Paderborn were first established. Much of the credit for this in Bolton can be attributed to former chairman Alan Price who has not only kept the relationship alive, but helped it to prosper in later years.
